CYCLONES MERCY RULE LITTLE ROCK HALL

The Russellville Cyclones entered the game with just one rushing touchdown all season but got three in the first half as they mercy-ruled the Little Rock Hall Warriors 38-8 on Friday at Leroy Scott Stadium. Russellville (2-6, 1-4 6A-West) scored first on a 34-yard field goal by Conner Cooper, then went up 10-0 with 1:01 left in the first quarter. The Cyclones took over on the Hall 28 after the Warriors failed fourth-down conversion. Marquis Peter hauled in a pass from Reid Wolfe on a halfback pass for a 49-yard touchdown. Russellville made it 17-0 with around five minutes left in the half on a 13-yard run by Latrell Thomas. The Cyclones covered 40 yards in four plays to get the touchdown. The play was Russellville's second rushing touchdown of the season. Two plays into the next Little Rock (2-6, 0-5) drive, Justin Loveless picked off the quarterback and returned it to the Warrior 5-yard line. One play later, David Donoho scored his first rushing touchdown of the season with 4:51 left in the half to make it 24-0 after the PAT. Later, Little Rock Hall dropped a punt and Ty Toland recovered to put Russellville back on offense with a short field. Thomas punched it in four plays into the drive with a 5-yard run to make it 31-0. The Cyclones got the mercy rule going in the third quarter on an 18-yard pass from Brayden Whitford to Brady Burnett. Russellville took over on the Little Rock 33 and took five plays to reach the end zone and go up 38-0. The Warriors dropped the ensuing kickoff and Eli Toland recovered to put the Cyclones back on offense. With three minutes left in the game, Little Rock Hall made it 38-8. Whitford finished the game 12-of-28 for 94 yards passing and a touchdown. Thomas had 46 yards on nine rushes and two touchdowns. Marquis Peter had 57 yards on three receptions, while Burnett had 43 yards on four receptions. Russellville held the Warriors to just 91 total yards of offense. Russellville host El Dorado on Friday.
